WELCOME
Welcome to Cara Capall Therapy.
We are a small, family run facility based in Co. Meath. We provide Equine-Assisted Therapy and Learning sessions to individuals and groups. Clients of all ages and abilities interact with horses in ground based (non-riding), experiential sessions that promote emotional well-being, confidence, and personal insight.
Whether you're seeking healing, personal growth, or just a calming experience in nature, we are here to provide a supportive environment for you.
Our sessions are designed to be welcoming for everyone and no previous experience with horses is required.
What is Equine-Assisted Therapy (EAGALA Model)?
Equine-Assisted Therapy, following the Eagala Model, is a unique therapeutic approach to psychotherapy and learning. Horses are integrated into sessions to help clients explore emotions, develop coping strategies, and foster personal growth.
It’s a hands-on, ground based (i.e. non horse riding), experiential therapy conducted by a team consisting of a mental health professional, an equine specialist, and the horses.
Some of the benefits include:
-
Build Confidence

-
Strengthen Relationships
-
Improve communication skills

Types of Services
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP)
Delivered under the EAGALA Model, EAP is a specialist, evidence-based form of psychotherapy involving a qualified mental health professional and an equine specialist working together. It provides a safe, confidential space for individuals or groups to explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours through interactions with horses, with no riding involved.
Equine-Assisted Personal Development & Learning (EAPDL)
These sessions focus on self-awareness, confidence-building and practical life skills, without any discussion of mental health diagnoses or therapy. Facilitated by an experienced equine practitioner, EAPDL is ideal for individuals or groups interested in personal growth, leadership skills, team building or simply trying something new.
Equine-Assisted Learning (EAL)
EAL is an experiential approach that supports learning and development for people who may not have the capacity, need or awareness for psychotherapy or structured personal development. It can be a gentle introduction to working with horses and is often incorporated into EAP programmes as appropriate. The main difference is that EAL does not include a mental health professional and is not therapy - it is practical, hands-on learning guided by an equine specialist.
Why horses?
🌱Horses are Powerful Therapy Partners🌱
Horses are prey animals, naturally attuned to body language and energy as a means of survival. This heightened awareness makes them exceptional at reflecting emotions and responding to subtle cues in the environment. In the Eagala model, their responses help clients gain insight into their own feelings and behaviours, creating a powerful space for self-reflection and emotional growth.
🟢 The non-verbal connection offers a safe space for growth, especially for those who find it hard to express themselves in traditional therapy settings.
🐴Working with these gentle yet powerful animals can also build confidence, improve communication skills, and encourage problem-solving.
✅Their honest and immediate feedback offers clients the chance to explore patterns in a unique, hands-on way, leading to meaningful and lasting personal development.
🙌🏻Horses are natural empaths - they are highly attuned to body language and energy.
🌱In the Eagala model, they help clients reflect on their feelings, making it easier to understand and process emotions.
🟢Key Feature:
Horses respond to the emotions and energy of the client, providing immediate, non judgemental and honest feedback.
🟢Benefits:
-
Helps overcome barriers in communication.
